Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and assess post-anesthesia patients for vital signs and response to anesthesia.
  • Provide immediate post-operative care and ensure patient comfort.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  • Conduct thorough assessments and document patients' progress in health records.
  • Collaborate with surgical teams and assist in facilitating seamless patient transitions.
  • Educate patients and families about post-operative care and potential complications.
  • Respond quickly to emergency situations and provide critical interventions as needed.
  • Maintain a sterile and safe environment in the PACU.
  • Participate in continuing education and training programs to enhance nursing skills.
  • Adhere to all healthcare regulations and protocols to ensure patient safety.

Requirements:

  • Current and valid Registered Nurse license in the state of Michigan.
  • Previous experience in a PACU, ICU, or similar clinical setting preferred.
  • Strong understanding of post-anesthesia recovery principles and practices.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in the use of electronic health records (EHR).
  • Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and compassionate patient care skills.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification required.
  • Ability to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Capacity to lift and position patients safely and effectively.
