Abundance New York (ANY) is seeking a Program Director to drive the growth and engagement of a growing political community. The Program Director will work directly with ANY’s co-founders and serve as a critical thought partner as the organization solidifies and executes its program strategies. This role is hybrid (mostly remote, with some in-person meetings). The compensation for this role is $90,000 - $110,000 per year.
Responsibilities
Running programming for full community (40%)
- Spearhead strategy and execution of programming for 4,000-and-growing political community; design and oversee member events (e.g. monthly happy hours, educational panels, book clubs, webinars, leadership trainings, constituent meet-and-greets)
- Serve as the point person for partner events, e.g. joint happy hours or educational events with partner organizations
- Manage the Abundance New York WhatsApp Community
- Oversee systems (e.g., updating CRM, tracking events participation, owning events calendar) needed for effective program delivery, decision-making, and impact tracking
Owning member activation and community-led programming (40%)
- Design and lead member onboarding and ongoing support, incorporating regular feedback conversations to identify opportunities for deeper involvement
- Recruit, train, and support members to launch volunteer-led programming and initiatives, both virtual and in-person
- Ensure alignment of community-led programming with organizational goals and values
Flexibly augmenting program capacity for other Abundance NY activities (20%)
- Assist ANY team in creation and amplification of online tools, e.g. Voter Guide, Candidate Scorecard, Abundance Agenda
- Support management of key relationships, e.g. coalition leaders, elected officials and staff, and candidates for office
- Join project-based work reflecting quarterly organizational goals
Qualifications and requirements
- 3-6 years of experience in community management, political organizing, or other related role focused on the engagement of large groups of stakeholders and events
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong familiarity with New York City and State politics
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and manage many deliverables simultaneously
- Strategic systems thinker; ability to design scalable systems and processes to achieve organizational goals
- Entrepreneurial mindset; versatility and interest in engaging in a wide range of functions needed to set up a new organization
- Strong spreadsheet and database skills
