Overview

We’re hiring a Head, HR Systems Modernization to architect and implement a next-generation, global, remote-first HR platform — purpose-built for Anime Universe and its expanding ecosystem of creative ventures.

This role is about designing the full HR stack: from hiring workflows to performance infrastructure, from equity & token tracking to async onboarding and offboarding systems. You’ll shape the engine that powers how we attract, retain, manage, and grow contributors across borders, time zones, and compensation models.

You’ll collaborate across Talent, Legal, Studios, Tech, and external partners to build an HR infrastructure that is as scalable, trusted, and future-proof as our vision.

You’ll work within a global network of core team leads, founders, scribes, and studio heads, as well as legal, product, and culture counterparts. You’ll start as a hands-on builder, but will own the systems roadmap and eventually hire or manage a pod as complexity scales.

Your systems must support growth from 10 to 100 to 1,000+ contributors across startups, countries, and roles — without sacrificing integrity, autonomy, or compliance. You’ll be designing for a network of companies, not just one.

What You’ll Own

HR Infrastructure & Systems Design

  • Architect a fully customized, modular HRIS platform for global, remote-first, equity-driven organizations
  • Build workflows for hiring, onboarding, offboarding, compensation, recordkeeping, and contributor management
  • Set up systems for equity and token issuance, tracking, and vesting (in partnership with Legal & Finance)
  • Define the tooling and platforms to support performance reviews, contractor agreements, time tracking, and compliance

Global People Operations

  • Lead global systems design across jurisdictions, ensuring legal compliance and documentation integrity
  • Build contributor records, digital personnel files, and audit trails across a unified architecture
  • Own integration between people systems and async platforms (e.g. Notion, Slack, Docs, Token Wallets)
  • Develop mechanisms to support decentralized hiring, equity alignment, and culture onboarding at scale

Organizational Partner Support

  • Design systems that can be replicated, licensed, or adapted for other AU-aligned startups and ventures
  • Help ecosystem partners onboard onto the platform and tailor it to their needs
  • Provide high-level architecture and scalable documentation for teams without dedicated HR functions

What We’re Looking For

  • 10+ years in HR operations, systems architecture, or people infrastructure roles
  • Proven track record of building or leading the implementation of a custom HRIS or modular HR tech stack
  • Deep understanding of remote-first HR operations: async workflows, global compliance, digital recordkeeping
  • Experience designing systems for equity-based or token-aligned teams
  • Strong operational leadership across hiring, onboarding, performance, offboarding, and compensation
  • Hands-on ability to evaluate, customize, or integrate tools — including ATS, HRIS, payroll/equity platforms
  • Proven ability to document and scale operational processes for non-traditional org structures
  • Confident working in low-overhead, high-complexity environments with minimal preexisting tools
  • Bonus for experience with Notion, Deel, Carta, BambooHR, Gusto, or DAO-style HR tooling
