Overview

We’re looking for a Head of Compensation, Equity and Tokenomics to build the systems that determine how value is distributed across Anime Universe. You’ll be the architect of our performance-based equity models, token distribution mechanics, and long-term compensation strategy.

In partnership with the CPCO and executive team, you will design and implement innovative, future-proof compensation structures across equity, tokens, cash, contests, and internal sprints. This role sits at the intersection of HR innovation, financial architecture, and organizational psychology.

This is a pivotal role: you will shape how people are rewarded, how motivation is sustained, and how ownership is earned. Your work will directly impact retention, fairness, and the scaling of a globally distributed creative and technical workforce.

 What You’ll Own

  • Design, implement and continuously evolve Anime Universe’s equity and token-based compensation systems
  • Build compensation architectures for different tracks: leadership, tech, creative, operations, and contributors
  • Define and maintain equity partner agreements, vesting schedules, grant documentation, and contribution tracking
  • Partner with Legal and Treasury to ensure full compliance across jurisdictions (US, Canada, Cayman, Japan, etc.)
  • Analyze performance data to align equity allocation with merit and impact (e.g. sprints, contests, KPIs)
  • Architect internal incentives like gamified rewards, competitions, loyalty programs, and culture-aligned perks
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, People Analytics, Product, Legal, and Tokenomics to ensure consistency
  • Lead audits of equity/token issuance and prepare strategic reports for leadership and future investors
  • Establish a clear, transparent equity governance system accessible to all partners

 

What We're Looking For

- 10+ years in compensation design, total rewards, HR architecture, or financial modeling (experience with startups or DAOs a plus)
- Deep understanding of equity compensation structures, tokenomics, and performance-based incentive plans
- Legal and compliance fluency in cross-border compensation matters (including securities, tax, and employment laws)
- Comfort with high ambiguity and a builder-first mindset—you know how to scale systems before they exist
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate financial/HR data into strategic design decisions
- Experience implementing blockchain, smart contract-based vesting, or token distribution mechanisms is a strong plus
- Bonus for background in legal ops, HR innovation, decentralized orgs, or next-gen incentive systems
