We are seeking a talented and motivated Sous Chef to join our culinary team and support our mission of exceeding client expectations through outstanding food and presentation.
Position Overview:
The Sous Chef plays a critical role in overseeing daily kitchen operations and supporting the Executive Chef in menu development, food preparation, and team leadership. This position requires strong culinary skills, creativity, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced catering environment. The Sous Chef will help ensure consistent quality, maintain kitchen standards, and assist in leading a cohesive, high-performing culinary team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Executive Chef in planning, preparing, and executing catering menus for events of various sizes and styles.
- Supervise kitchen staff to ensure high standards of food quality, safety, and presentation.
- Oversee food preparation, cooking, and plating to ensure consistency and efficiency.
- Manage daily kitchen operations including inventory, ordering, and equipment maintenance.
- Maintain compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations (HACCP or equivalent standards).
- Train and mentor kitchen staff, promoting teamwork, efficiency, and professional growth.
- Contribute to the development of seasonal and custom menus based on client requests and event themes.
- Monitor food costs and portion control to achieve budget and profitability goals.
- Ensure timely and organized food service during events, coordinating with the catering and event teams.
- Step in for the Executive Chef when required, managing kitchen operations and staff leadership.
Qualifications:
- Education: Culinary degree or equivalent professional training preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in a professional kitchen, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or sous chef role (catering or banquet experience strongly preferred).
Skills & Competencies:
- Exceptional culinary and plating skills.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen operations.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing event needs.
- Creative approach to menu development and problem-solving.
- Ability to manage multiple events and priorities simultaneously.
Work Environment:
- Fast-paced catering kitchen and event environments.
- Must be available to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays as required for events.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
