HRLadderBox, on behalf of our client, is seeking an experienced Risk & Fraud Specialist to strengthen fraud detection and prevention across their Sports Betting and Online Gaming platforms. This role is critical in protecting revenue, minimizing payment fraud exposure, and ensuring compliance across emerging markets, particularly within mobile money ecosystems. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in iGaming fraud typologies, mobile payment risks, AML frameworks, and transactional data analysis.

Your Impact

  • Monitor, analyze, and investigate suspicious player and transaction activity across sports betting and online gaming platforms.
  • Detect and mitigate fraud related to:
    • Mobile money payments and withdrawals
    • Bonus abuse, multi-accounting, and arbitrage betting
    • Payment fraud, chargebacks, and account takeovers
  • Develop and optimize fraud rules, risk scoring models, and alert thresholds.
  • Conduct in-depth investigations and produce clear case documentation with recommendations.
  • Collaborate with Payments, Product, Compliance, and Customer Support teams to reduce risk exposure.
  • Support fraud prevention strategies tailored to emerging markets, including local payment methods and player behavior patterns.
  • Track fraud KPIs and report on trends, losses, and prevention effectiveness.
  • Stay up to date with evolving fraud tactics in sports betting, online gaming, and mobile money ecosystems.
  • Assist with regulatory, audit, and compliance requirements related to AML and fraud controls.

You Bring: 

  • 5+ years of experience in fraud and risk management within:
    • Sports betting
    • Online gaming / iGaming
    • Digital payments or fintech (mobile money experience essential)
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Sports betting mechanics and player behavior
    • Online gaming fraud typologies
    • Mobile money fraud risks and controls
  • Experience with fraud monitoring tools, case management systems, and data analysis platforms.
  • Ability to analyze large volumes of transactional and behavioral data.
  • Solid knowledge of AML, KYC, and responsible gaming principles.
  • Strong investigative, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in or supporting emerging markets (Africa, LATAM, Asia).
  • Familiarity with local payment providers and alternative payment methods.
  • Experience in high-growth or fast-paced gaming environments.
  • Knowledge of gaming regulations and licensing frameworks.
