Position Overview
Our Confidential Client,a privately held industrial manufacturing and distribution company founded in 1888, is seeking a highly experienced General Manager to lead operations at its New Jersey facility. The company, ranked among the top 50 industrial organizations with over 500 employees, serves customers across aerospace, defense, manufacturing, and general industry sectors. This position is part of a succession plan for the current owner and represents a strategic leadership opportunity to drive continued growth and profitability.
The general manager will be replacing the owner in 2-3 years. The owner is 72 years of age and is looking to find the right candidate for this role to take his place upon retirement.
Location

Position Type
-Full-time,office-based
-Approximately 5–10%overnight travel during the first year
Compensation and Benefits
-Base Salary:Open (commensurate with experience)
-Bonus:25%–35% of base salary, tied to P&L performance and KPIs
-Monthly Allowance:Incorporated into base pay
-Benefits:Full package including health, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement plan, tuition reimbursement, and paid vacation

Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities (in order of priority)
1. Team Management — Lead, mentor, and manage the branch team to achieve performance and operational goals.
2. P&L / Balance Sheet Management — Full responsibility for financial performance, budgeting, and forecasting.
3. Strategic Growth — Develop and strengthen supplier, customer, and sales relationships to drive profitability.
Additional Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day operations,ensuring quality, productivity, and compliance with company policies.
Partner with executive leadership to execute strategic initiatives.
Manage key relationships within aerospace,defense, and industrial sectors.
Evaluate operational processes and implement improvements to efficiency and output.
Qualifications
Education
-Required:Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
-Preferred:Master of Business Administration (MBA)
Experience
-Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing,industrial distribution, or a related field.
-At least 3 years of direct P&L and team management responsibility.
-Experience in metal hose,industrial distribution, or manufacturing environments is preferred.
