Job title: Electrical Engineer
Location: Richmond, IN or Memphis, TN
Salary:$90,000 - $110,000/year
What you will be doing:
- Lead the system-level development of electrical monitoring and safety subsystems, from concept through validated prototype and production readiness.
- Define functional requirements, system architecture, interfaces, thresholds, and failure modes for electrical systems and subsystems.
- Develop and maintain system documentation, including functional block diagrams, interface definitions, and installation schematics.
- Own test planning and validation, including defining test requirements, coordinating supplier-executed testing, reviewing results, and authoring test reports.
- Support third-party certification efforts and compliance activities in accordance with ASME A17.1, ASME A17.5, and applicable electrical codes and standards.
- Serve as the primary technical interface with suppliers and manufacturing partners, ensuring solutions are technically sound, cost-effective, and manufacturable.
- Support day-to-day engineering needs related to traction machines, belt-driven systems, motors, and VFD-based equipment.
- Participate in technical risk assessment activities, including patent awareness, cost evaluation, and supplier capability reviews.
Experience you will need:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (or closely related field) required.
- A Master’s degree is considered a strong asset.
- 5+ years of experience in electrical or systems engineering roles.
- Experience working with electromechanical systems, preferably in elevator, industrial, automotive, or similar industries.
- Prior ownership of technically complex projects involving multiple suppliers is strongly preferred.
- Prior experience in the elevator industry is considered a strong asset.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems engineering and system-level architecture.
- Experience defining functional requirements and translating regulatory requirements into technical specifications.
- Familiarity with motors, VFD-driven systems, and electromechanical equipment.
- Experience coordinating supplier-led design and testing efforts.
- Ability to define and validate digital and analog interfaces with higher-level control systems.
- Working knowledge of ASME A17.1 / A17.5 or similar safety-critical codes and standards.
- Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
