We are seeking an Automation Engineer to support an infrastructure-as-code migration initiative within the network standards organization. This role focuses on translating existing network standards and configurations from documented formats into executable, version-controlled code and templates. The position is well-suited for someone early in their career who is eager to learn, detail-oriented, and comfortable collaborating with senior engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Translate documented network standards and configurations into working code and templates, including formats such as Jinja and JSON
- Convert configuration documentation into reusable modules and templates for network devices
- Work with Git-based version control, using GitLab to submit and manage code changes
- Support an infrastructure-as-code migration for network standards across the organization
- Collaborate with senior network engineers and standards team members to ensure accuracy and consistency of configurations
- Communicate clearly with team members and stakeholders to clarify requirements and validate outputs
Required Skills & Experience:
- Exposure to Python (academic, internship, or early professional experience is sufficient)
- Familiarity with Jinja and JSON formats
- Understanding of how Git works; experience with GitLab is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and ability to translate documentation into precise technical outputs
- Solid communication skills, especially when working with senior engineers and cross-functional teams
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
- Interest in networking or network engineering concepts
- Prior exposure to network device configurations or configuration templates
Work Environment & Team:
- The role supports the network standards organization and works closely with senior engineers within that group
- Day-to-day collaboration will primarily be with senior engineers on the standards team, with oversight from the hiring manager
