Engineering Manager – Data Platform

We’re looking for an Engineering Manager with strong technical depth in modern data engineering, distributed systems, and cloud-native development to lead core engineering for our Data platform. You’ll architect and scale mission‑critical data pipelines and backend services while staying hands‑on in code, architecture, and problem‑solving.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of 5–10 software/data engineers.
• Architect and build scalable, high‑performance data pipelines and backend services.
• Stay hands‑on with Python, TypeScript, SQL, and Azure (Functions, Data Factory, Event Hub, Service Bus, Storage, Azure SQL).
• Set engineering best practices across code quality, reliability, security, and observability.
• Own data models, pipelines, orchestration, and real‑time/near‑real‑time data flows.
• Partner with Product, Architecture, Security, and other teams to deliver high‑quality solutions.
• Support production operations, monitoring, incident response, and continuous system improvement.

What we are looking for

• Strong hands‑on experience in data engineering, ETL/ELT, distributed systems, and cloud‑native development.
• Advanced SQL skills and experience with analytical + transactional databases.
• Deep experience with Azure data and backend services.
• Knowledge of modern DevOps (CI/CD, IaC, automation, observability).
• 3+ years leading engineering teams (or senior engineer ready to step up).
• Excellent communication and ability to balance leadership with hands‑on execution.

Nice to Have

• Experience with streaming systems (Kafka/Event Hub).
• Performance tuning for high‑throughput systems.
• Exposure to data governance, compliance, or regulated environments (FinTech, banking, etc.).
