This person works as a surgical technologist in the Operating Room. A Surgical Technologist I knows and understands how surgeries are done.
They make sure all supplies and equipment are ready and in good condition for the surgery.
They also check or put together the sterile instruments needed for the surgery and can anticipate what the surgeon might need. They help keep track of medications, sharp tools, instruments, and sponges used during the procedure. It is their job to maintain and watch over the sterile area.
**Responsibilities:**
**(30%)** They know how surgeries are performed and can solve problems related to the surgery. They check the physician's preference list to ensure all items are correct and are responsible for the supplies to make sure the patient is billed accurately.
**(30%)** They use equipment properly and know how to put together and clean everything, including making sure all tools and supplies are ready and working for the surgery.
**(30%)** They keep the sterile environment clean and monitor the sterile area to notice any mistakes in technique.
**(10%)** They set up the sterile area with instruments on time and keep an accurate count of all medications, sponges, instruments, and sharp tools on the sterile field according to the rules.
Qualifications
- **5+ Years of Experience - Required** -
**Experience in Open Heart Surgeries
- Required** - **BLS (AHA) and NBSTSA Certification
- Required** - **Experience in a Tertiary Care Center or a Level I or II Trauma Center
- Required** - **Travel Experience
- Preferred**
