This individual assumes the role of Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room.
The Surgical Technologist I demonstrates an understanding of surgical procedures and exhibits the necessary knowledge to perform related tasks effectively.
This professional ensures that all supplies and equipment are prepared, available, and functioning appropriately for the surgical procedure.
Additionally, the individual confirms and assembles sterile instruments correctly and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. Responsibilities also include maintaining an accurate account of medications, sharps, instruments, and sponges, as well as overseeing the integrity of the sterile field.
**Responsibilities**
(30%) Demonstrates knowledge of surgical procedures and possesses the ability to resolve problems inherent to the procedures being performed. Verifies items listed on the physician preference card and is accountable for supplies to ensure accurate patient billing.
(30%) Exhibits proper utilization of technology, facilitates the assembly of equipment and disposables, as well as the cleaning and sterilization processes. Ensures that all equipment, supplies, and instruments are assembled correctly and are in working order for the surgical procedure.
(30%) Maintains a sterile environment by monitoring the sterile field and recognizing any breaches in technique.
(10%) Sets up the sterile field with instruments promptly and maintains an accurate record of all medications, sponges, instruments, and sharps present on the sterile fields in compliance with established policy.
**Qualifications**
- A minimum of three years of experience is required.
- Expertise in Orthopedics, Sports Medicine, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Ophthalmology, and Urology is required.
- Candidates must be amenable to a 32-hour guarantee.
- Proficiency with C-Sections is essential.
- Experience in travel is highly preferred.
- Certification in NBSTSA and BLS (AHA) is required.
