The main job of the RN Charge Nurse is to be a leader and take care of patients. 

This nurse has strong skills and cares for both patients and team members. 

The Charge Nurse oversees how the unit operates during their shift and sets a good example for others. They help new nurses learn and grow from being beginners to experts.

As a clinical or staff RN, the Charge Nurse may care for 1-3 patients. 

They supervise the work of LPNs, RNs, and LNAs and decide who takes care of which patients. 

They help organize when staff members take breaks, create patient assignments, and make changes as needed when patient numbers go up or down.

They assist LPNs, RNs, and LNAs on the shift by helping with patient care, checking lab results, and following up on referrals. They work with departments like pharmacy, lab, and radiology as needed.

The Charge Nurse gives feedback to the nurse manager about staff performance and helps resolve conflicts quickly. They ensure that all patient information is documented correctly and on time. 

They communicate with the team and hospital management to organize daily unit activities like admitting, discharging, and transferring patients. 

They also act as the main supervisor during nights, weekends, and holidays, keeping everyone informed about bed availability and talking to the administrator on call if necessary. 

They also communicate with other hospitals about bed availability to help transfer patients.

 

**Qualifications**

- BLS Certification - Required 

- NH RN License must be active when you apply 

- Required - 3-5 years of relevant clinical experience 

- Required - Experience as a Charge RN - Preferred 

 

**Certification Requirements**

- BLS - State License Requirements:  

- New Hampshire 

 - Compact Allowed  

- Additional License: NH RN license must be active when you apply!
