The M/E Engineer 3 will undertake increasingly complex mechanical, electrical, and field construction activities. This role encompasses the collection and assembly of data, the development of estimates, and the generation of systems and bid analyses.
**Autonomy and Decision-Making:** This position involves making decisions regarding routine matters, providing recommendations to the supervisor, and referring all exceptions to the supervisor. The individual will learn and actively contribute to all aspects of the company's safety and quality initiatives, demonstrating commitment to an injury-free environment through personal actions and by mentoring others.
The M/E Engineer 3 will execute entry-level and routine mechanical, electrical, and field construction tasks. The candidate will acquire skills to develop budgetary M/E estimates based on program and schematic design information utilizing an automated M/E estimating system. The individual will assist in reviewing mechanical and electrical options as part of the preconstruction process and will complete systems analyses for selected projects.
The M/E Engineer will learn to develop the mechanical and electrical scopes of work necessary for coordinating during the bidding process and will assist in the completion of bid analyses, contributing input during the subcontractor selection process. Moreover, the role involves assisting in the development of sequencing requirements for various systems and providing solutions to meet scheduling needs.
The engineer will gain familiarity with design documents to identify potential quality issues, aiding in the formulation of constructability review reports. The individual will learn to perform job inspections to ensure compliance with specifications and expectations, ensuring that work is completed both efficiently and with high quality. Additionally, the candidate will assist with the shop drawing and submittal process to adhere to contract documents and will engage in the commissioning process, which includes the creation of pre-functional checklists, functional testing procedures, and conducting actual functional tests.
**Qualifications**
The ideal candidate will possess the ability to perform work accurately, completely, and within a timely manner. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are required (intermediate level).
Proficiency in MS Office applications is necessary (intermediate level), along with the ability to interpret and understand plans, drawings, and specifications.
The individual should develop proficiency in basic M/E tools and software, with knowledge of construction management means and methods.
The capacity to build relationships and collaborate effectively within a team, both internally and externally, is essential.
A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field is required. In lieu of formal education, equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
A valid and unrestricted driver’s license is also required.
