The responsibilities of the position include the precise positioning and immobilization of patients on the procedure table, utilizing supportive devices to achieve optimal alignment, and adhering to protocols established by the Radiologist while performing scans.
The technician administers contrast media both orally and intravenously.
Further, pertinent data such as the type of scan requested, slice thickness, scan duration, and additional technical specifications are entered into the computer system.
The technician is required to review images of organs or tissues on a video display screen to ensure the quality of the captured images. Additionally, the evaluation of radiographs and computer-generated information for technical quality is a critical aspect of this role.
The technician will also demonstrate new techniques, equipment, and procedures to staff members.
It is essential to implement and monitor radiation safety measures to guarantee the safety of both patients and staff, thereby ensuring compliance with governmental regulatory requirements. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
**Qualifications:**
- A minimum of two years of experience as a CT Technologist.
- A valid ARRT certification in Computed Tomography (CT) is required.
- Experience in administering intravenous contrast injections is essential.
- Familiarity with working with adolescent to geriatric populations is preferred.
- Candidates must be willing to apply for the provisional New Hampshire Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (MIRT) license upon acceptance of the offer. Possession of an out-of-state imaging license is necessary for obtaining this license; non-licensed Radiologic Imaging Technicians will be required to apply for the permanent New Hampshire MIRT license.
**Certification Requirements:**
- ARRT certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Current New Hampshire License for Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy.
