**Core Responsibilities:**

- **Patient and Procedure Preparation:** Independently prepare patients, examination rooms, and procedure tables using appropriate techniques classified as dirty, clean, sterile, or aseptic to ensure optimal conditions for interventions.   - **Imaging Equipment Operation:** Set up and operate advanced imaging modalities, including angiographic systems, CT, and ultrasound, to accurately capture and present clinically significant findings, particularly when unexpected conditions or anomalies arise.

- **Interventional Radiology (IR) Technologist Functions:** Execute complex, specialized roles as an IR technologist, providing assistance in all procedural aspects. This includes managing specific equipment and preparing and utilizing procedures-specific consumables, medications, and devices.

- **Primary Assistance to Interventional Radiologist:** Act as the primary assistant during intricate IR procedures, encompassing both diagnostic and interventional arterial/venous interventions (e.g., transarterial chemoembolization, uterine fibroid embolization, pelvic congestion syndrome embolization, gonadal vein embolization, thrombolysis, thrombectomy, balloon angioplasty, stent and intravascular device implantation, fistulagram/shuntogram, transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt, and foreign body retrieval) as well as non-vascular interventional tasks (e.g., gastrointestinal studies, urinary studies, drainage procedures, biopsies).

- **Circulator Role:** Function as the primary circulator during all cases, ensuring smooth procedural flow.

- **Surgical Set-Up Management:** Prepare, organize, and maintain comprehensive sterile surgical setups. Maintain constant situational awareness during procedures, anticipate the interventional radiologist’s needs, and adhere to universal precautions while managing specimens, supplies, and equipment. Ensure a sufficient stock of sterile instruments, and oversee the cleaning and re-sterilization processes post-procedure. Monitor linen stocks and report any shortages promptly.

- **Room Maintenance:** Keep the procedure room clean and orderly at all times.

- **Clerical Responsibilities:** Conduct clerical tasks such as triaging and scheduling patients based on physician requests. Explain procedures comprehensively to patients and prioritize critical and emergency cases, adjusting schedules as necessary. Collect relevant laboratory results to verify patient eligibility for examinations and ensure all accompanying paperwork—such as histories and physicals, allergy information, medication lists, lab values, and past studies/reports—are accurate.

- **Training and Mentorship:** Assist in the education and training of students and fellow military technologists in IR principles, procedures, capabilities, techniques, and equipment.

- **Equipment Maintenance:** Perform operator-level maintenance and care of equipment, identifying needs for higher-level technical support as required.

**Work Schedule:** - 8-hour shifts from Sunday to Saturday, 0600-1800 hours, including holidays.

**Minimum Qualifications:**

- **Education:** Associate of Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography from a CAAHEP-accredited institution.

- **Experience:** Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in a range of invasive cardiovascular procedures, including right and left heart catheterization (diagnostic and interventional), electrophysiology studies, catheter ablation, cardiac device implantation, intra-aortic balloon pump therapy, transeptal procedures, and intravascular/intracardiac ultrasound

. - **Certification:** Current certification from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).

- **Life Support Certification:** Valid AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification.

- **Security Clearance:** Ability to pass a government background check/security clearance.
