**Job Title: Staff Technologist**

**Supervisor:** Director of Imaging  

**Supervises:** No supervisory duties

**Job Overview:**   The staff technologist performs important tasks related to medical imaging. This includes taking X-ray pictures, especially in emergencies, surgeries, and for patients who cannot move. They also help with office tasks related to patient care, especially during weekends, evenings, nights, and holidays. They participate in projects that improve the quality of care. Being present for work regularly is very important. They may also be asked to do other tasks as needed.

**Main Duties Include:**  

- Taking high-quality X-ray images.  

- Using and taking care of radiographic equipment safely.  

- Following safety rules to protect patients and themselves from radiation.  

- Helping with CT scans and general X-ray procedures.  

- Supporting office tasks when needed.  

- Identifying concerns about quality and safety.  

- Assisting in the daily tasks of Imaging Services.

**Skills and Abilities Needed:**  

- Ability to use the Radiology Information System (MEDITECH) and PACS.  

- Greet and help patients in a friendly way.  

- Good communication skills, both written and spoken.  

- Ability to work alone, finish tasks, and adapt to busy work times.  

- Basic computer skills.  

- Positive interaction with patients, doctors, and coworkers.  

- Ethical and professional behavior.

**Education:**  

Must graduate from a Radiologic Technology school.

**Experience:**  

- Must be ARRT registered or eligible and have experience in regular X-ray work.  

- Experience in CT scans is preferred.  

- Good communication skills are important, as well as being able to work independently and manage a busy workload.  

- Must interact positively with patients, doctors, and staff.  

- Must show ethical and professional behavior.

**Certificates/Licenses:**  

- Must be ARRT registered or eligible and have a current Iowa Permit to Practice.  

- Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification is required.
