The Electromyography (EMG) Technician is responsible for conducting nerve conduction studies and assisting the provider during the EMG portion of the procedure. 

This role necessitates the provision of accurate and efficient evaluations, as well as the execution of clerical tasks to support departmental operations.

 The EMG Technician ensures that the psychosocial, physical, and general aspects of patient care are adequately addressed, including the communication needs of both patients and their families. 

It is essential to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and adhere to nursing and clinic policies, procedures, and standards.

Effective communication with physicians and team members regarding the patient’s condition, including the results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology, is crucial.

 

Qualifications for this position include the completion of an approved EMG program or equivalent experience in neurosciences, alongside a two-year degree in Neurodiagnostic or a related field, which is required. 

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is also mandatory. 

The EMG Technician must demonstrate proficiency in the EMG Technician role, including the ability to monitor and analyze EMG and other neurophysiological. 

Basic computer skills and the ability to read and communicate effectively in English are essential. 

 The position requires demonstrated leadership, problem-solving skills, a commitment to continuous improvement, as well as effective verbal and written communication abilities. 

An understanding of basic improvement concepts and techniques is important, along with the flexibility to accommodate the needs of patients and the department.

Certification Requirements: Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
