**Specific Tasks and Requirements:

**

The scope of responsibilities encompasses a range of functions associated with surgical patient care, including but not limited to:

- Delivering comprehensive surgical patient care. - Facilitating the transportation of patients and pertinent medical records to and from the Operating Room (OR) and recovery areas, and assisting nursing staff with preoperative patient preparation.

- Engaging in medical material management tasks, ensuring timely routing and availability of necessary supplies. - Performing routine safety inspections and preventative maintenance on both fixed and movable medical equipment and fixtures to ensure operational readiness.

- Conducting essential and specialized housekeeping activities to maintain hygiene and compliance within surgical environments.

- Setting up the OR for surgical procedures by arranging and unboxing sterile instruments and supplies.

- Assisting anesthesia personnel in patient positioning and the administration of anesthesia, adhering strictly to aseptic techniques.

- Upholding principles of asepsis and infection control, as well as adhering to medical ethical standards. - Participating in terminal cleaning of the OR and preparing for subsequent procedures.

- Handling the receipt, decontamination, and sanitation of used patient care items.

- Managing surgical instrument sets, medical supplies, and linen packs, ensuring proper storage, maintenance, and distribution of sterile items.

- Assisting the circulating nurse in the preparation of surgical records and reports, including ensuring the accuracy of preoperative case carts and preference cards.

- Preparing specimens for laboratory transport efficiently and accurately.

- Performing scrub duties within the OR, including scrubbing hands and forearms, donning sterile gowns and gloves, and maintaining the sterile field by managing instruments, supplies, and equipment.

- Collaborating with the operative team to apply sterile drapes and passing instruments and supplies as required, proactively responding to surgical needs.

- Overseeing the care of surgical specimens on the sterile field and preparing instruments for terminal sterilization. - Executing post-operative recovery duties, which includes assisting the surgical team with patient care as directed, administering oxygen, facilitating patient arousal, and implementing the surgeon's post-operative protocols.

- Engaging in general clinic functions, including preparing patients, instruments, supplies, and equipment for specialized procedures, and assisting specialty surgeons in surgical and diagnostic tasks.

- Operating and maintaining diagnostic and therapeutic equipment, as well as ordering necessary laboratory and radiographic tests as needed.

- Performing specialized activities pertinent to specific surgical clinics, managing the scheduling of appointments and surgeries, and preparing preoperative documentation.

- Participating in in-service training to stay current with new procedures, techniques, and equipment. - Ensuring adherence to safety regulations, promoting employee safety practices, and maintaining patient safety in line with regulatory guidelines and infection control policies.

**Work Schedule:**

- Monday through Friday, comprising a 9-hour shift with a 1-hour unpaid lunch period, with occasional overtime.

**Minimum Qualifications:** - 

**Education:** Completion of a Surgical Technology Program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). -

 **Experience:** A minimum of 12 months of experience as a surgical services technician within the last 36 months. - 

**License/Certification:** Successful completion of an accredited surgical service and clinical course. - 

**Life Support Certifications:** Valid certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA). - 

**Security Clearance:** Ability to pass a government background check and obtain the necessary security clearance.
