The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in the following core competencies, aligning with the expectations for effective job performance within a correctional mental health context.

1. **Psychological Assessments:** Conduct comprehensive psychological screenings and assessments, utilizing a review of clinical records and structured interviews with incarcerated individuals.

2. **Interdisciplinary Collaboration:** Actively participate in a multidisciplinary mental health team, collaborating with psychiatrists, mental health practitioners, medical professionals, and social services personnel to exchange critical information regarding patient psychological issues. This collaborative approach ensures cohesive treatment strategies and continuity of care.

3. **Treatment Planning:** Develop, implement, and adjust individualized treatment plans informed by rigorous evaluations of inmates' psychological needs and functional capacities.

4. **Clinical Monitoring:** Perform systematic rounds in segregated or confined housing units to gauge inmate adjustment levels and mental health treatment needs.

5. **Theoretical Expertise:** Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of psychological counseling theories and methodologies, applying effective treatments and interventions tailored to individual cases within the caseload.

6. **Crisis Intervention:** Deliver timely mental health assessments and therapeutic interventions, including crisis management and de-escalation techniques aimed at addressing the immediate needs of inmates in psychological distress.

7. **Consultative Engagements:** Consult effectively with a range of professionals, including psychiatric staff, nursing, medical, educational, chaplaincy, and security personnel, to gather insightful information regarding the causative factors of behavior escalation and fluctuations in the mental health status of inmates.

**Qualifications:**

- Earned Doctoral degree in Psychology from an accredited institution.

- Possession of a current, unrestricted psychology license in the practicing state.

- Minimum of two years of clinical experience, including at least one year in a similar clinical setting.

 Valid driver’s license.
