The successful candidate should be able to do ALL of the following tasks at a level that meets the job's requirements.
1. **Assessment:
** Conduct psychological screenings and assessments by looking at available records and talking with inmates.
2. **Teamwork:**
Work with a mental health team and talk with other clinical staff, such as psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, and others. This is to share and gather information about the mental health issues of patients, ensuring that their treatment is well coordinated.
3. **Treatment:
** Provide treatment to inmates by creating, implementing, and changing individual treatment plans based on their needs and how they are functioning.
4. **Monitoring:
** Make regular visits to areas where inmates are kept separately to check on their adjustment and mental health treatment needs.
5. **Knowledge:** Show a strong understanding of psychological counseling methods by using appropriate treatments and activities for the individuals in your care.
6. **Crisis Support:** Offer mental health assessments, counseling, and interventions to help inmates who are in crisis.
7. **Consultation:** Consult with psychiatrists, mental health professionals, nursing staff, and others as needed to understand the reasons behind any changes in inmates' behavior or mental health.
**Qualifications:**
- Must have a Doctoral degree in Psychology from an accredited college or university.
- Must have a current and unrestricted license to practice psychology in the state where you will work.
- Must have at least two years of clinical experience, including one year in a similar role.
- A valid Driver's License is required.
