**MAIN JOB DUTIES**

 

These are the important tasks you will do. Other tasks may also be given to you.

1. Give medicines and treatments as directed by doctors and according to the rules of the facility.

2. Get the equipment ready and help the doctor when examining residents.

3. Watch the residents and write down any important changes or reactions. Inform the supervisor, doctor, and family about these changes.

4. Check residents' temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other important signs to see if they are okay.

5. Organize tasks and nursing services in the resident area to make sure residents’ needs are met, as instructed by the doctor and according to the rules.

6. Talk with the Shift Supervisor about nursing issues and how to follow facility rules to meet residents’ needs.

7. Report any complaints or unusual issues to your supervisor. Help fill out the facility complaint report.

8. Help train new nursing staff and assess their performance.

9. Look at nursing activities to ensure good care for residents and efficient service.

10. Assign jobs and manage nursing services in the resident area.

11. Check nursing care and visit residents to ensure care is given as directed and treatments are followed per the doctor’s orders.

12. Keep track of medications on the unit.

13. Check resident rooms and common areas for cleanliness and comfort.

14. Document when residents are admitted, discharged, transferred, or when there are incidents according to facility rules.

15. Take part in creating care plans, and fill out nursing assessments and care plans for assigned residents on time.

16. Complete special tasks and audits as directed by the Supervisor, Chief Clinical Officer (CCC), or Director of Nursing.

17. Keep your education up to date to maintain your license in Michigan. Attend assigned training and meetings.

18. Respect residents' privacy; treat them kindly and with respect; know and follow the rules about residents' rights; report any accidents or injuries to the charge nurse right away.

19. Be present and punctual for your shifts.

20. Perform any other duties assigned to you.

 

**Qualifications**

- 2+ years of experience in Long-Term Care (LTC), Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF), or Medical-Surgical settings (not in a hospital).

- Experience with travel assignments.

**Must have:** 

Completed at least one successful travel assignment as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Please mention it in your work history.

**Certification Requirements**

- BLS (from the American Heart Association)  

**State License Requirements**

- Must have a license for Michigan.
