**Job Title: LPN Wing Supervisor**

**Job Overview:**
As the LPN Wing Supervisor, you will work under the RN Supervisor. Your main job is to help create and follow the medical care plan for residents and oversee the Nursing Assistants. It is very important to ensure that all care for the residents is done safely and follows state and federal rules. We are looking for someone who really enjoys interacting and working with residents every day.

**Main Responsibilities:**

- Use the Physician's Computer Company system for electronic health records.
- Give and keep track of medications and treatments, like checking blood sugar levels. Report how residents respond to treatments.
- Write down and understand doctors' orders.
- Write monthly summaries about residents' health.
- Talk with Nursing Assistants about care plans on the monthly summary day and make sure the care plan is updated based on the current health of the residents.
- Quickly inform the RN Supervisor if there are any big changes in a resident’s health.
- Report any changes in residents' health to the RN Supervisor.
- Let families know about resident transfers, and communicate this via email to department heads.
- Fill out transfer forms for residents.
- Update care plans with clear goals and ensure the team follows the new plans.
- Assist doctors during rounds and medical exams when needed.
- Collect lab samples, such as urine or stool, and ensure they are sent to the hospital with the right paperwork. Document this in the system once done.
- Help with post-mortem procedures when a resident passes away. Assist in gathering the resident's belongings and notify all department heads via email and phone calls as directed by the RN Supervisor.
- Encourage residents to participate in scheduled activities.
- Share updates with the team about changes in resident health, care plan updates, and special tasks.
- Help the RN Supervisor evaluate Nursing Assistants each year.
- Write positive and counseling reports with the RN Supervisor as needed.
- Fill out incident reports accurately or help team members complete them.
- Document residents' weights and vital signs, and re-weigh residents if there are significant changes.
- Clean and restock treatment trays every day.
- Prepare daily reports for your wing.
- Check the count of narcotics with another nurse at the start and end of your shift.
- Keep an accurate record of residents' belongings, including new items brought in and items taken out.
- Keep your work area clean and orderly and do housekeeping tasks as scheduled.
- Submit requests for maintenance when needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment, and report any safety concerns.
- Supervise the care provided by nursing assistants to ensure it matches the care plans.
- Take on any additional tasks given by your supervisor.
- Attend care plan meetings for residents in your wing if asked.
- Help train new nursing staff.
- Adjust staff assignments as necessary to ensure good care for residents.
- Hold team meetings as needed.

**Requirements:**
- Experience in a nursing home is a plus, but new graduates are welcome to apply.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification is required.
- COVID Vaccination is preferred but not required.
- You need to have a current nursing license in Pennsylvania or a temporary work permit at the time of your interview.

**Knowledge Needed:**
- Understanding basic medical practices, body mechanics, personal care for residents, and how to use and care for medical equipment.
- Knowing how to observe, report, and record information.
- A strong knowledge of nursing theories and how to apply them.
- Willingness to learn and follow rules, policies, procedures, and the institution's philosophy.
- Must always act in a friendly and professional way toward residents, visitors, and coworkers, showing a commitment to helping elderly residents.
- Be aware of cost-saving measures, use time wisely, and properly care for equipment.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Good communication and observation skills are essential.

**Certification Requirements:**
- BLS Certification is required.

**State License Requirements:**
- Must have a nursing license for Pennsylvania.
