Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of cardiothoracic surgical procedures
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to determine optimal patient care plans
- Monitor patient progress post-surgery and provide follow-up care
- Participate in consultations and pre-operative assessments
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment options
- Stay updated with advancements in cardiothoracic surgery
- Adhere to all ethical and legal standards in medical practice
Requirements
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree
- Valid medical license to practice in the state of Nebraska
- Completion of an accredited residency in Cardiothoracic Surgery
- Strong surgical skills and proficiency in cardiothoracic procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
- Commitment to continuous education and professional development
- Experience with patient management and care in a surgical setting
- Level I Trauma Center
Schedule: 24-hour call shifts (7a-7a), specific dates
Daily Admissions per Provider: ~1-4
Annual Volume: ~150 heart cases
Duties: Hospital rounds on CTS patients, OP and IP consults, OR coverage for cardiac surgery, and some thoracic trauma
Procedures Required: Standard cardiac surgery, heart cases, ECMO cannulation, aortic dissections, and CABG
Support Staff: PAs, NPs, RNs, and scrub techs
EMR: Epic
Must be board-certified
ACLS, BLS, & DEA preferred
