As a Locum Cardiothoracic Surgeon, you will play a crucial role in our team, focusing on complex surgical procedures and patient care within the cardiothoracic domain. You will work closely with a dedicated team of healthcare professionals to ensure the best outcomes for our patients.
Responsibilities
- Perform cardiothoracic surgeries including procedures on the heart, lungs, and chest
- Conduct pre-operative evaluations and post-operative follow-ups
- Collaborate with other medical professionals to develop comprehensive treatment plans
- Provide patient education regarding surgical procedures and recovery
- Monitor patients' progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards
- Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives
- Maintain accurate and thorough medical records
Requirements
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
- Valid medical license to practice in the state of Texas
- Board certification in Cardiothoracic Surgery
- Experience in a clinical or surgical setting, preferably in cardiothoracic surgery
- Strong surgical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to patient care and continuous professional development
Schedule: 24-hour call shifts, 7a-7a
Shifts available at multiple facilities
Patient Volume: 10-15 per day, 100 total per year
Duties: Primarily inpatient surgical coverage for ED and referred elective cases
Caseload: Full-scope CV surgery
Clinic EMR: Cerner McKesson Cardiology
Hospital EMR: Paragon
Must be board-certified or board-eligible
