As a Locum MD in Pathology, you will play a critical role in diagnosing diseases and conditions through laboratory analysis. You will work closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure the best outcomes for our patients, leveraging your expertise in pathology to enhance our diagnostic capabilities. This role is vital to our mission of providing exceptional medical care and improving patient health in our community.

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform pathological examinations on specimens to provide accurate diagnoses
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to discuss findings
  • Utilize advanced laboratory techniques and equipment
  • Ensure compliance with health regulations and standards
  • Maintain detailed records of examinations and findings
  • Provide expert opinions and consultations as needed
  • Participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives
  • Stay updated on advancements in pathology and medical technology

Requirements

  • MD degree from an accredited medical school
  • Active medical license to practice in the state of New York
  • Experience in pathology is preferred
  • Strong analytical and diagnostic skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to patient-centered care and continuous learning
  • Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols and procedures
  • Level III Trauma facility

Schedule: 9-hour day shifts

No call requirement

Annual Volume: 13k surgical specimens and 3k cytology specimens

Responsible for grossing your own specimens and cutting your own frozen sections

Required Skills: Surgical pathology and cytology

Team Structure: 4 pathologists, 5 histotechnologists, 1 pathology assistant, 2 cystotechnologists

EMR: Epic/Beaker

Must be board-certified
