Description
As a Locum Gastroenterologist, you will play a crucial role in providing temporary medical services to patients in need. This position is vital for ensuring continuity of care and maintaining high standards of healthcare delivery in the gastroenterology department.
You will be involved in a variety of projects, including diagnosing and treating gastrointestinal conditions, performing endoscopic procedures, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and educating patients on preventive care measures. This role requires a strong clinical background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to adapt quickly to different healthcare settings.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct consultations with patients to assess gastrointestinal symptoms and medical history.
- Perform diagnostic procedures such as endoscopies, colonoscopies, and biopsies.
- Develop treatment plans based on diagnosis and medical history.
- Prescribe medications and recommend lifestyle changes to manage gastrointestinal conditions.
- Collaborate with nurses, technicians, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care.
- Monitor patients' progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
- Educate patients on gastrointestinal health, disease prevention, and treatment options.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation of patient care.
Requirements:
- Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
- Board certification in Gastroenterology.
- Valid state medical license to practice in Shreveport.
- Proven experience working as a Gastroenterologist in a clinical setting.
- Excellent diagnostic and decision-making skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to providing high-quality patient care.
Flexible schedule
Daily Census: 18-20 patients
Patient Population: 100% adults
Setting: 60% clinic, 40% hospital
All GI procedures required, including colonoscopies, biopsies, EUS, ERCP, endoscopies, banding, etc.
Support Staff: MA, nursing staff
EMR: Epic
Must be board-certified or board-eligible
