We are currently seeking a skilled Locum MD (Medical Doctor) or DO (Osteopathic Doctor) specializing in General Surgery .In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing temporary medical services to our clients in Mount Shasta. Your expertise will be vital in ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and surgical services, making a significant impact on the healthcare industry.

As a Locum MD or DO in General Surgery, you will be involved in a variety of surgical projects, including emergency surgeries, routine procedures, and post-operative care. Your role will be essential in maintaining the continuity of patient care, collaborating with healthcare teams, and upholding the highest standards of medical practice. Responsibilities:

  • Performing surgical procedures with precision and expertise.
  • Assessing and diagnosing patients to determine the appropriate course of treatment.
  • Providing post-operative care and monitoring patient recovery.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Documenting patient information and treatment plans accurately.
  • Adhering to medical protocols, regulations, and ethical standards.
  • Participating in departmental meetings and professional development activities.
  • Responding to medical emergencies and providing timely interventions.

Requirements:

  • Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Board certification in General Surgery.
  • Valid state medical license and DEA registration.
  • Demonstrated experience in performing a wide range of surgical procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and high-pressure healthcare setting.

Schedule: 24-hour call shifts (7a-7a), specific dates

Level III trauma

Annual Volume: ~800 trauma calls

100% ED call coverage

Endoscopies required

EMR: Cerner

Must be board-certified or board-eligible

Paid travel & expenses
