Description
As a Locum MD/DO in Radiation Oncology, you will play a crucial role in providing temporary medical services to patients in need of radiation therapy. This position is vital for ensuring continuity of care and delivering high-quality treatment to individuals battling cancer. You will be involved in a variety of radiation oncology projects, contributing to the well-being and recovery of patients.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct patient consultations to assess medical history and determine appropriate radiation treatment plans.
- Administer radiation therapy according to established protocols and guidelines.
- Monitor patient progress during treatment and adjust therapy as needed.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including oncologists, nurses, and technicians.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient care and treatment plans.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding radiation therapy.
- Participate in tumor boards and case conferences to discuss complex cases and treatment strategies.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements and research in the field of radiation oncology.
Requirements:
- Medical degree (MD or DO) with specialization in Radiation Oncology.
- Active medical license in the state of practice.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering radiation therapy treatments.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in patient care documentation.
- Capability to collaborate with diverse healthcare professionals.
- Commitment to providing compassionate and patient-centered care.
Schedule: Monday-Friday
Call Requirement: Weeknights (5p-7:30a) and weekends (24-hour), 1 week per month
Setting: Inpatient and outpatient
Daily Volume: ~4 inpatients, ~25-30 outpatients
Cases: Thyroid, H&N, thoracic, GI, GU, sarcoma, melanoma, lymphoma, metastatic disease
Duties: Procedures, consultations, treatment planning, treatment supervision, OTV patient management, follow-ups
Required Procedures: 3D, IMRT, and SBRT
Equipment: Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator, Cyberknife, Elekta HDR
Support Staff: Radiation oncologists, practice manager, RNs, MAs, medical physicists, dosimetrists, radiation therapists, office staff, and procedure scheduler
EMR: Aria and Cerner
Must be board-certified
Paid travel & expenses
