In this role, you will provide essential support in surgical settings, working closely with surgeons and other healthcare professionals to ensure the highest level of patient care. Your expertise will play a vital role in pre-operative assessments, intra-operative assistance, and post-operative care, contributing to the overall success of surgical outcomes. 

Responsibilities

  • Assist in pre-operative evaluations and patient assessments
  • Provide direct patient care during surgical procedures
  • Monitor patients' progress and manage post-operative recovery
  • Collaborate with surgeons and medical staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes
  • Document all patient interactions and maintain accurate medical records
  • Educate patients and their families on post-operative care and recovery
  • Participate in surgical rounds and contribute to care plans
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in cardiothoracic and vascular surgery

Requirements

  • Valid NP or PA license in the state of Texas
  • Experience in cardiothoracic and/or vascular surgery is preferred
  • Strong clinical skills and ability to work in a high-pressure environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Basic life support (BLS) certification required
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays

Schedule: Monday-Sunday, 8-hour shifts

Call Requirement: Emergency department beeper call

Setting: Operating room-based, emergency department

Endo-vein harvesting and ECMO required

EMR: Epic

Must be board-certified
