We are currently seeking a skilled Locum Physician's Assistant (PA) specializing in Cardiothoracic Surgery.  In this role, you will play a crucial part in assisting surgeons in the operating room and providing high-quality patient care. This position is vital to ensuring the success of cardiothoracic surgical procedures and maintaining the well-being of patients. Responsibilities:

  • Assist surgeons during cardiothoracic surgical procedures
  • Conduct pre-operative and post-operative patient assessments
  • Manage and monitor patient progress in the ICU and step-down units
  • Perform wound care and suture removal as needed
  • Coordinate patient care with other healthcare professionals
  • Provide patient and family education on post-operative care
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and meetings
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records

Requirements:

  • Associate degree in Physician Assistant Studies
  • Valid PA license in the state of practice
  • Prior experience in cardiothoracic surgery preferred
  • Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and techniques
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Commitment to providing compassionate patient care

Schedule: 2 weeks on/2 weeks off

Weekend rounding required

Setting: 75% inpatient, 25% outpatient

Patient Census: 5-10 per round

Patient Population: 100% adult

EMR: Epic

Must be board-certified or board-eligible
