**Purpose Statement**  

 

The Maintenance Mechanic is instrumental in ensuring the optimal performance of all plant equipment through mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and electronic repairs, alongside preventive maintenance strategies.

**Key Accountabilities and Outcomes**  

- Diagnoses and troubleshoots all types of maintenance failures efficiently.  

- Utilizes assembly drawings, P&IDs, and technical manuals to fine-tune equipment functionality. Implements electrical principles involving VFDs, SCRs, and motor starters, as well as logic concepts such as PLCs and SLCs to rectify equipment issues.  

- Applies foundational skills in plumbing, metalworking, and general facilities maintenance when necessary.  

- Operates and interacts with diagnostic instruments including gauges, RTDs, pressure transmitters, I/P converters, and vortex flow meters.  

- Trains new associates and existing team members on the essential technical competencies required for maintenance operations.  

- Ensures that the maintenance workspace complies with GMP and safety protocols, maintaining a clean and organized environment.  

- Operates the SCADA system proficiently and completes related documentation accurately.  

- Undertakes various related tasks as assigned by the Team Leader, ensuring flexibility in operations.  

- Collaborates with operations associates on basic equipment troubleshooting and provides necessary support to maintain production flow.

**Knowledge, Skills, and Experience**  

- A High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.  

- 3-5 years of hands-on experience in food processing, specifically in the troubleshooting and repair of high-tech production equipment with advanced control systems is required.  

- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for effective collaboration and training.  

- Proficiency in training fellow associates on maintenance operations and concepts is expected.  

- Must demonstrate a strong inclination and capacity to function cohesively as part of a self-directed work team.  

- Proficiency in SCADA systems is required for effective operations management.  

- A solid understanding of general mechanical, electrical, and logic principles is necessary.  

- Familiarity with fundamental plumbing, metalworking, and facilities maintenance practices is beneficial.  

- Awareness and adherence to associate safety guidelines, GMP, and food safety standards are crucial.  

- Comprehension of proper machine operating methods and adjustment procedures is essential.  

- Ability to actively participate in Production Improvement initiatives, Associate Involvement programs, and temporary task forces, as directed.
