Description
We are currently seeking a skilled MD (Medical Doctor) or DO (Osteopathic Doctor) specializing in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing mental health care to children and teenagers, making a significant impact on their well-being and development. You will be involved in a variety of projects focused on diagnosing, treating, and managing psychiatric disorders in young patients.
As an MD or DO specializing in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry , you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects that aim to improve the mental health outcomes of children and teenagers. Your role will be vital in addressing the unique challenges faced by young individuals dealing with psychiatric issues, utilizing your expertise to provide compassionate and effective care.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations of children and adolescents to diagnose mental health conditions.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Prescribe and monitor medications to manage psychiatric symptoms and improve overall well-being.
- Provide therapy and counseling to young patients and their families to address emotional and behavioral challenges.
- Monitor and track patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Participate in case conferences and consultations with other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.
- Stay current on advancements in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry through continuing education and professional development.
- Contribute to research projects and publications related to pediatric mental health.
Requirements:
- Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
- Board certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
- Valid state medical license to practice as a psychiatrist specializing in child and adolescent care.
- Demonstrated experience working with children and teenagers in a psychiatric setting.
- Strong knowledge of developmental psychology and pediatric mental health disorders.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with young patients and their families.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based healthcare environment.
- Empathy, patience, and a compassionate approach to treating children and adolescents with mental health issues.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9a-5p
Call: 1 night per week, 1 weekend per month
Setting: Inpatient
Patient Volume: Up to 16 per day
Patient Population: 70-80% between 10-14 years old
48 child & adolescent beds, 24 adult beds
Support Staff: Additional MD, PMHNPs
NP supervision is optional
EMR: Wellsky
Must be board-certified or board-eligible
