**Job Description:**
The role of Medical Director for the pediatric hospitalist practice encompasses the following responsibilities:
- Provide oversight for high-risk deliveries.
- Conduct emergency room consultations involving pediatric patients.
- Manage admissions of low-acuity pediatric cases.
- Deliver comprehensive well-newborn care within the hospital setting.
- Collaborate with the affiliated Level-III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose for newborns requiring intensive care, including coordination of transport when necessary.
- Maintain a full-time schedule consisting of twelve 24-hour shifts per month, with on-call responsibilities from home.
- Support a hospital facility that manages approximately 500 deliveries annually.
- Engage within a collaborative work environment, welcoming applications from commuting candidates.
- This is a permanent, full-time position that necessitates residence within the immediate local area. Relocation may be required.
**Qualifications:**
- Active Board Certification in Pediatrics (BC Pediatrician) is required; no exemptions will be made.
- A valid medical license for California or the willingness to obtain one is required.
- Current inpatient hospital experience is mandatory; candidates should provide the number of years of experience in the additional notes section.
- A clean malpractice and license history is highly preferred.
