**Job Summary:**
This job involves doing various technical tasks that require good judgment, creativity, and initiative. A Nuclear Medicine Technologist needs to know how to use special equipment like gamma cameras (both planar and SPECT), PET scanners, radiation detectors, dose calibrators, and how to check all this equipment for quality.
They should understand safety practices related to radiation, how to protect both patients and themselves from exposure, and techniques to minimize radiation (keeping it as low as reasonably achievable, or ALARA). It is important to follow the rules set by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) for handling, giving, and transporting radioactive materials. The technologist should also know about radiopharmacy, which includes safely preparing and giving radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic or treatment purposes.
**Responsibilities:** -
**(20%)** Administer radiopharmaceuticals: The technologist will inject and give all radiopharmaceuticals. They will measure the activity of these substances, calculate how much to give, and keep records in a dose tracking system. They will also prepare radiopharmaceutical kits and doses. -
**(20%)** Understand procedures: The technologist should know the protocols for Nuclear Medicine and position patients correctly on equipment according to these procedures. They should also monitor patients during the procedures.

**(20%)** Start intravenous (IV) access: The technologist must select suitable sites for IV and use sterile methods when accessing patients.

**(20%)** Operate equipment: The technologist will know how to use all Nuclear Medicine equipment and understand the quality control needed for this equipment.

**(20%)** Follow safety regulations: They must understand and strictly follow all radiation safety regulations and procedures.
Qualifications
**Experience:** At least 2 years of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist is required. -
**Knowledge:** Familiarity with Radiology Information Systems (RIS) and Hospital Information Systems (HIS) is preferred. - **Certifications:
** Must have BLS (AHA) certification. -
**Licensure:** Must have ARRT (N) or CNMT certification.
