**Occupational Therapist Assistant Duties:**
The job of an Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) includes the following tasks:
- Use research and best practices to help patients.
- Provide necessary treatment to patients with problems in thinking or moving, following rules and guidance from an Occupational Therapist.
- Carry out different procedures as part of the rehabilitation plan, like helping patients with daily activities, exercises, using therapy equipment, and more, all under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist.
- Check how well patients are doing and talk to the Occupational Therapist to change treatment plans if needed.
- Share information about how effective the treatments are with the Occupational Therapist.
- Provide advice and support to patients, families, caregivers, and other service providers about cognitive or physical problems.
- Communicate well with the supervisor and other health team members about patient progress, challenges, and treatment plans.
- Help the supervisor write summaries for patient discharge based on the services provided.
- Keep detailed records of all required patient information in the electronic system and follow company rules.
- Accurately record the time spent on treatments as required.
- Attend necessary meetings, such as patient care discussions and training sessions.
- Join in on required training and conferences as needed by the facility or company.
- Work with the supervisor to get any necessary supplies or equipment for patient care.
- Support and guide students under the direction of the Occupational Therapist.
- Follow the rules and ethics set by relevant occupational therapy boards and associations.
- Hold an active state license or registration, if needed.
**Qualifications:**
- At least 1 year of experience as an OTA (required).
- Experience in long-term care (LTC) or rehabilitation (required).
- COTA license (required).
- Must submit applications at the agreed payment rate; higher requests may lead to redirection.
- State License Requirements:
- Texas
- Compact License allowed.
