Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) help care for patients. They gather information about the treatments given and work with Physical Therapists (PTs) to change the care if needed. PTAs work with patients of all ages, from babies to older adults.
Here are some of the things PTAs do:
- Help patients stretch and exercise specific muscles.
- Follow instructions from the Physical Therapist.
- Work closely with the Physical Therapist to assist patients.
- Talk to families to find the best exercises for home.
- Keep the physical therapy area clean and organized.
- Help move patients from wheelchairs or walkers to the therapy area.
- Do clerical tasks, like making appointments and organizing paperwork.
- Teach patients how to improve balance.
**Requirements for the Job:**
- At least 1 year of experience as a PT.
- Experience in Long-Term Care (LTC) or Rehabilitation (Rehab).
- A valid PTA license is required.
