**Job Specific Position Duties:**

**Primary Responsibilities for Nurse Practitioners (NP):

** - Deliver comprehensive, outcome-oriented nurse practitioner services following the privileges established by the Military Treatment Facility (MTF). Responsibilities encompass supervising and conducting thorough screenings and medical evaluations of patients with routine, acute, and chronic conditions across all organ systems, administering immunizations, and diagnosing, treating, and counseling patients as necessary.

- Provide technical direction and instruction to staff, design and present evidence-based educational lectures, and engage in in-service training for team members.

- Diagnose and manage common acute conditions, chronic illnesses, and minor trauma, adhering to established clinical protocols, clinical practice guidelines, Nurse Practice Acts, or in consultation with a supervising physician.

- Advocate for preventive healthcare practices and health maintenance by conducting annual physicals and promoting positive health behaviors and self-care through structured education and individual counseling.

- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration with a diverse healthcare team to update on care plans/actions and enhance education for patients and families.

- Identify conditions necessitating isolation and ensure adherence to universal infection control measures during all patient interactions.

- Participate in staff meetings focused on case discussions, ongoing education, and continuous quality improvement and safety initiatives.

**Primary Responsibilities for Physician Assistants (PA):**

- Provide a comprehensive spectrum of Physician Assistant services in both primary care and specialty settings, operating within the confines of training and privileges granted by the MTF. This includes performing general screenings and medical assessments of patients with various conditions, administering immunizations, and diagnosing, treating, and counseling patients as appropriate.

- Offer technical direction and care management for diverse diseases and injuries (acute, chronic, and minor trauma), with proficiency in identifying emergency conditions to diagnose, prescribe, and treat illnesses, disorders, and injuries while directing complex cases to qualified medical personnel.

- Provide mentorship and training to other staff members, and deliver educational sessions to support professional development.

- Promote preventive care and health maintenance through annual check-ups, lifestyle modification education, and self-management strategies for patients.

- Prescribe medications in accordance with established treatment protocols and guidelines from the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.

- Identify medical concerns, formulate appropriate interventions, and initiate referrals to physicians when required. - Execute specific diagnostic and therapeutic procedures aligned with professional scope of practice.

- Establish collaborative relationships with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to enhance primary care service delivery.

- Educate patients and their families on maintaining a healthy lifestyle and the importance of personal accountability in achieving wellness.

- Engage in staff meetings to discuss cases, continue professional education, and contribute to quality improvement efforts.

**Minimum Qualifications:** - 

**Education:** A Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited program (ACEN or CCNE) for NPs; or a Bachelor's degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program (ARC-PA) for PAs. - 

**Experience:** A minimum of 2 years of experience in family practice or a comparable primary care environment within the last 3 years. - 

**License:** An active and unrestricted NP or PA license in any state. - 

**Board Certification:** ANCC or AANP certification for Nurse Practitioners; NCCPA certification for Physician Assistants. - 

**Life Support Certifications:** Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. - 

**Security Clearance:** Ability to pass a government background investigation and obtain the necessary security clearance.
