**Job Description:**

**Key Responsibilities:**

- Help during surgeries, check patients in the Emergency Department, visit patients on the hospital floor, and teach patients about their care
- Order tests, look at lab results, write prescriptions, and keep notes on patient progress and discharge
- You will get a customized training based on your skills
- Work with a small group of 2-3 surgeons

**Main Tasks:**

- Talk to patients and do physical exams. Understand and analyze lab tests and scans.
- Use patient information to figure out what might be wrong and establish a working diagnosis.
- Create a treatment plan for orthopedic issues. Provide specific care as needed.
- Decide when to consult, refer, or evaluate with the supervising Orthopedic surgeon or other healthcare providers.
- Order or do lab tests and diagnostic procedures, including blood tests and other studies like X-rays and MRIs.
- Perform procedures such as digital blocks, regional anesthesia, and minor surgeries like tendon repair and wound care.
- Assist in surgeries, including closing wounds and doing other tasks as directed by the surgeon.
- Check on patients in the hospital, write orders, and support the Orthopedic surgeon.
- Be the main orthopedic provider on call for patients in the Emergency Department and other hospital units. You will share on-call duties with other PAs and NPs and may need to work some weekends and holidays.

**Qualifications:**

- Must be a Board Certified Physician Assistant (PA)
- Must have an Oregon license (or be willing to get one)
- Familiarity with Oregon is needed
- At least 2 years of experience working as an inpatient Orthopedic PA (not including training) is highly preferred
- Must have a clean malpractice history/background
- A copy of the NPDB self-query report is required

**Certification Requirements:**

- Must be Board Certified
- Must hold a state license for Oregon
- Must have at least 2 years of experience as an inpatient Orthopedic PA (not including training) and must have connections to Oregon, like family in the area or having lived in Oregon at some point.
