**Job Description: Medical Position**
This job has obstetrics (OB).-optional
You will mainly work with patients in a hospital or medical office. You will help identify health problems, make diagnoses, create treatment plans, and check how well patients are doing. You will work under the guidance of a doctor and may refer patients to a doctor for further care. You will see patients of all ages, from children to older adults. Basic lab tests and simple procedures can be done.
You need to follow the rules of the Catholic Health Care Services. You might need to stay an active member of the medical staff at SJHS-SB and/or SJHS-Ply.
You should always act in a way that supports the organization’s mission and values, and follow all laws about patient health, safety, and medical information.
Your duties will include:
- Taking a full health history and doing physical exams for the type of visit.
- Ordering tests, performing them, understanding the results, and sharing the results with patients. You will also complete all necessary paperwork.
- Informing the supervising doctor about any unusual findings.
- Prescribing treatments and medications, and doing simple and complex procedures by yourself. You will also report any serious reactions from patients to the doctor.
- Educating patients and their families about medical conditions, treatment options, and what to expect.
- Checking if the treatment plans are effective and changing them if necessary. You’ll also inform the doctor about significant changes in care plans.
**Qualifications Needed:**
- Must be Board Eligible (within 5 years of residency) or Board Certified in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine – REQUIRED
- Must have an Indiana medical license (or be willing to get one) – REQUIRED
- Must have BLS and ACLS certifications (or be willing to get them) – REQUIRED
- Must have a DEA certificate (or be willing to get one) – REQUIRED
You will work with patients of all ages and must have experience with both children and older adults. Knowledge of the EPIC electronic medical record system is highly preferred.
