The Registered Nurse (RN) works under the Director's supervision and provides care for very ill patients. The RN performs tasks that follow the rules set by the Iowa State Board of Nursing.

Key Responsibilities:

- Attend all required training and meetings.

- Complete necessary training and continuing education. - Finish all competency requirements.

- Assess the physical and mental health of assigned patients.

- Create and update nursing care plans for patients together with them and their families, using a team approach.

- Implement and support the Medical Plan of Care.

- Accurately follow and carry out doctor’s orders.

- Keep detailed records of patient care and their reactions to treatment.

- Be flexible and open to changes in nursing practices.

- Accept constructive feedback positively. - Make safe decisions, showing understanding and respect when dealing with patients, team members, and the public, while knowing legal responsibilities.

- Be involved in setting and reaching unit goals.

- Help other team members grow and improve.

- Maintain flexibility in scheduling to ensure the department has enough staff.

- Identify and participate in quality improvement projects for the department and organization.

- Communicate any safety concerns promptly to the Director, Nursing Supervisor, or Administration.

- Complete reports about any unexpected incidents involving patients, families, or employees quickly.

- Show professionalism in behavior.

- Perform other assigned duties as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Show the ability to assess, plan, provide, and evaluate nursing care based on age and in line with policies and regulations from the Joint Commission and Medicare/Medicaid.

Education:

- Must graduate from a Registered Nursing program.

- Must complete a dysrhythmia course within 6 months of starting or pass a written dysrhythmia test within 90 days of hire.

Experience:

- Previous experience in Telemetry or Progressive care nursing is preferred but not required.

Certifications/Licenses:

- Must have a current RN license in Iowa or a multistate license valid in Iowa.

- Current BCLS certification.

- Iowa Mandatory Reporter Certification for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse.

- Advanced Cardiopulmonary Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred. 

- Progressive Care RN Certification is preferred but not required.
