**Job Details and Responsibilities:**

**Main Duties:**   The job includes many tasks, such as:

**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed:**  

- Understanding how to teach and use good teaching practices.  

- Knowing about human body parts, how they work, and related health issues.  

- Familiarity with medical words and terms.   - Skills in using ultrasound machines and technology.  

- Ability to position patients correctly to get the right images.  

- Good at speaking and writing clearly.   -

 Knowledge about teaching methods in Diagnostic Medical Sonography to help train others.

**Supervision:**   The person in this position plans and teaches the Air Force Ultrasound Phase II training on their own during the course. They handle normal classroom issues and refer to the course details when needed. For special problems or questions, they ask their supervisor or the Air Force Ultrasound Program Director for help. They also choose and adapt teaching methods based on the course curriculum and previous training.

**Work Schedule:**   Normal work hours are Monday to Friday, for 9 hours between 7:30 AM and 4:30 PM. There might be evening shifts from 4 PM to 12 AM.  

**On Call:** You may be required to be available from Monday to Friday, 4:30 PM - 7:30 AM, and on weekends for 24 hours.

**Education Required:**  

- Graduate from a radiologic technologist program approved by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiological Education (JCERT).  

- Current registration as a Radiologic Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).  

- An associate's degree or higher in Diagnostic Medical Sonography is preferred.

**Experience Needed:**  

- At least one year of experience in mammography, including performing tomography mammograms or completing 200 exams in the last two years.  

- Some experience with biopsy procedures is required.

**Licensure/Registration:**  

- Must have current registration as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or ARRT.

**Life Support Certification:**  

- Must have and keep a current BLS Healthcare Provider certification from AHA or ARC.

**Security Requirements:**  

- Must be able to pass a government background check/security clearance.  

- This job is considered a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. The employee must pass initial and regular surprise drug tests. Using illegal drugs can affect the Air Force’s mission, national security, and public safety.
