The ultrasound technologist works in the Ob Gyn Clinic, doing ultrasound exams. They help improve the quality of care and handle other job tasks.
**Job Duties:**
- Provide care to patients in a safe environment that reduces errors.
- Answer phone calls politely and share important messages with the doctor.
- Keep accurate records of patient histories, conditions, treatments, responses, and changes.
- Complete all tasks from the doctor and follow up with patients by the end of each day.
- Clean and maintain patient exam rooms, restrooms, and work areas.
- Follow office policies and procedures to ensure safety and prevent infections.
- Create a safe and comfortable environment for patients and families, providing education as needed.
- Keep an adequate supply of materials and manage costs by ordering and conserving resources.
- Be flexible and organized, even in stressful situations.
- Check the Athena workflow dashboard to finish necessary tasks.
- Confirm patient appointment details one week in advance, including their information.
- Enter ultrasound reports into the patient’s Athena chart.
- Record ultrasound charges in Athena the next business day.
- Keep daily and monthly logs as required.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
**Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:**
- Ability to organize and understand patient information.
- Ability to communicate clearly.
- Ability to adapt and work well under pressure.
- Ability to train and help new staff members.
**Education:**
- Graduate from a School of Radiologic Technology.
**Experience:**
- At least 1 year of experience in general ultrasound.
**Certificates/Licenses:**
- Registered as a Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) and/or Registered in Ultrasound (RDMS) or eligible for registration.
- Current BCLS certification.
- Iowa Mandatory Reporter
– Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Certificates.
