Role Overview

As a Senior Creative Lighting Designer, you will be responsible for leading and delivering innovative lighting design solutions for a variety of projects, from conceptualization through to completion.
You will collaborate with Architects, Interior Designers, and clients to ensure that the lighting design enhances the aesthetic and functional aspects of the space.
Your creative vision, technical expertise and leadership will play a key role in shaping high-quality design outcomes.
 

Creative Design
▪ Develop and lead the design of lighting concepts for a wide range of projects, including residential, commercial, hospitality, and retail environments which will include landscaping and master planning.
▪ Produce high-quality design presentations, including sketches, diagrams, visualizations, and mood boards to
convey design intent to clients.
▪ Ensure that lighting design enhances architectural and interior features while considering functionality, sustainability, and budget constraints.

Project Leadership
▪ Lead the design team on multiple projects, guiding and mentoring junior designers to ensure the design vision
is executed properly.
▪ Collaborate closely with architects, interior designers, contractors, and other project stakeholders to integrate lighting solutions seamlessly into overall design schemes.
▪ Oversee the development of technical lighting plans, specifications, and fixture selections.

Technical Expertise
▪ Maintain knowledge of the latest lighting technologies, products, and trends, ensuring the application of cutting-edge and energy-efficient solutions.
▪ Develop detailed lighting designs including layouts, lighting fixture specifications, control system designs, and calculations.
▪ Provide guidance on lighting controls, integration, and system coordination with electrical engineers and contractors.

Client Collaboration
▪ Serve as the main point of contact for clients during the design process, presenting creative concepts and revisions to meet client needs and expectations.
▪ Ensure client satisfaction by delivering creative, functional, and cost-effective lighting solutions that align with project timelines and budgets.
▪ Ability to defend the design and win over other stakeholders in workshops and presentations.
 

Team Collaboration and Mentorship
▪ Work closely with other design team members to foster a collaborative and creative working environment.
▪ Mentor junior designers, helping them to develop their technical and creative skills.

Essential Experience Required:

▪  Minimum of 7+ years of experience in lighting design from an independent lighting design consultancy, with a strong portfolio demonstrating a wide range of creative and technical projects.
▪ Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit/BIM, DIALux, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft.
▪  Strong knowledge of lighting systems, fixtures, and controls.
▪ Understanding of LEED or WELL-certified projects.
▪  Creative problem-solving abilities and a passion for innovation in lighting design.
▪  Must understand the relationship between lighting design and interior design, and thus will
have some form of an interior design background.
▪  Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with
clients and team members.
▪  Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
▪  Experience in mentoring and leading design teams is a plus.
