Job summary
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Dog Groomer to join our close-knit team. The ideal candidate has a gentle and patient approach to handling a variety of dog breeds and temperaments. You will be responsible for providing a full range of grooming services, prioritizing each animal's safety and comfort, and delivering exceptional customer service to their owners.
Responsibilities
- Perform all grooming services, including bathing, brushing, drying, de-matting, and styling, according to breed standards and client requests.
- Provide additional pet hygiene services such as nail trimming, ear cleaning, and teeth brushing.
- Assess the condition of each dog's coat and skin and inform pet owners of any issues, including skin abnormalities, ear infections, or parasites.
- Handle animals with compassion and care, using proper techniques to keep anxious or difficult dogs calm and comfortable.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary grooming workstation by regularly cleaning and disinfecting tools and equipment.
- Keep accurate records of services provided and client requests for each grooming session.
- Communicate effectively and build strong relationships with pet owners to ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Work collaboratively with the team to ensure a seamless and efficient grooming experience.
Required skills and qualifications
- Proven professional dog grooming experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of various dog breeds, coat types, and breed-specific cuts.
- Excellent animal handling and restraint skills, with a compassionate and patient demeanor.
- Strong verbal communication and customer service skills.
- Detail-oriented with a high standard for quality work.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, sometimes noisy, environment and stand for long periods.
- Physical ability to lift and maneuver pets of all sizes, including those over 50 pounds.
Preferred qualifications
- Certification from a recognized grooming program or school.
- Experience with pet scheduling and records software.
Compensation
- Hourly Rate: $18.00–$20.00+ per hour, plus tips. The exact rate will be based on your experience and skill level.
