About the Role
We’re seeking a highly organised and people-focused Administrator to support the Buckingham Archdeaconry Office in Aylesbury. This is a part-time role (12 hours per week) where you’ll play a key part in keeping records accurate, coordinating events, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
From maintaining databases and processing expenses to preparing documents and welcoming visitors, this is a role where no two days are the same. You’ll also help coordinate annual evening events across Buckinghamshire and support wider projects within the Diocese.
This is an on-site position in our Stone office, where collaboration, professionalism, and kindness are central to the way we work.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support for clergy, parishes, and events
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and databases
- Process expenses and prepare documentation for meetings and projects
- Assist in coordinating annual Churchwarden Visitations and other diocesan activities
- Welcome visitors and provide a friendly, professional office presence
- Support colleagues in a small, supportive team environment
About You
We’re looking for someone who brings:
- Strong administrative experience with excellent attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and confidence using Teams/Zoom
- Clear, compassionate communication skills—both written and verbal
- Ability to manage time effectively and adapt to changing priorities
- Reliability, professionalism, and a proactive approach
- Discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information
An understanding of, or empathy with, the work of the Church of England is an advantage, but you do not need to be a practising Christian. What matters most is your commitment to making a positive impact through your work.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary (£9,486.74 per year for 12 hours/week)
- Generous 12.5% employer pension contribution (with death-in-service benefit)
- 25 days annual leave (pro-rata), increasing with service + UK public holidays
- Additional privilege days: Maundy Thursday, Ascension Day, and Christmas Eve
- Flexible working patterns (with some home working possible)
- Sabbatical leave after qualifying service
- Access to Employee Assistance Programme & wellbeing support
- Family-friendly policies & enhanced sick pay
- Free parking and subsidised café at our Oxford office
