About the Role
Talpa Supermarkets is seeking an experienced Store Manager to lead overall store operations and drive operational excellence, profitability, and an outstanding customer experience. This role is responsible for overseeing all departments, developing high-performing teams, managing financial results, and ensuring compliance with company standards and food safety regulations.
The Store Manager plays a critical leadership role in executing company strategy at the store level while fostering a positive, accountable, and customer-focused culture.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Performance
- Oversee daily operations across all departments, including grocery, produce, meat, bakery, tortillerĂa, ice cream shop, restaurant, front end, and receiving
- Ensure consistent execution of standards for quality, service, cleanliness, organization, and safety
- Monitor and improve key performance indicators (sales, shrink, labor, profitability)
- Manage inventory control, ordering, receiving, vendor relations, invoicing, and cycle counts
- Oversee pricing accuracy, promotions, signage, discounts, and merchandising standards
- Ensure compliance with food safety, health regulations, allergen controls, and company policies
Leadership & Team Development
- Recruit, hire, train, coach, and develop department managers and associates
- Create and manage labor schedules while controlling service and labor costs
- Conduct performance evaluations and corrective actions as needed
- Foster a high-performance, accountable, and engaged work culture
- Lead by example on the sales floor and in departments
Customer Experience & Community
- Ensure excellent customer service and resolve escalated issues
- Build strong relationships with customers and the local community
- Monitor store appearance, product presentation, and competitor pricing
- Drive customer loyalty and satisfaction
Financial & Administrative
- Manage store budget, P&L performance, and operational expenses
- Review sales reports, labor metrics, shrink, and inventory results
- Plan sales strategies and operational improvements
- Complete reporting, audits, and compliance documentation
- Deliver weekly and monthly financial and operational reports
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred
- 5+ years of grocery or retail management experience, including multi-department oversight
- Strong leadership, operational, and financial management skills
- Experience with inventory management, labor control, and P&L accountability
- Ability to manage multiple departments in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel, including basic data analysis, reporting, and spreadsheet management.
- Bilingual (Spanish & English) strongly preferred
