TKO StaffPros LLC is looking for an enthusiastic Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Electrical department in Plano,Tx. This entry-level, on-site contract position is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or those early in their careers to gain hands-on experience in the electrical and electronic manufacturing industry.
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing and developing mechanical components that integrate with electrical systems. You will work closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions that meet project specifications and client needs. This role is vital to ensuring the successful execution of our projects and contributes significantly to the growth and success of TKO StaffPros LLC.

What You’ll Do
Own the Enclosure System End‑to‑End
- Architect and design indoor, outdoor, and portable BESS enclosures including:
- Battery modules and racks
- Power electronics and controls compartments
- HVAC, airflow, ducting, and service access
- Drive enclosure decisions across concepts, prototype, pilot builds, and production
- Define enclosure platforms that can be reused and scaled across products
Hands‑On Mechanical Design
- Develop detailed 3D CAD models and production drawings for:
- Sheet metal parts, welded frames, and structural assemblies
- Doors, gasketing, latching, cable routing, and mounting features
- Rapidly iterate designs based on test results, supplier feedback, and field input
- Perform tolerance analysis, packaging trade studies, and quick structural checks
Design for Reality (Manufacturing, Cost, Deployment)
- Apply DFM/DFA principles from day one—simplify parts, reduce fasteners, and optimize assembly flow
- Work directly with:
- Sheet metal and fabrication vendors
- Contract manufacturers and coating houses
- Balance cost, lead time, and performance in every design decision
- Support prototype builds, factory trials, and first customer deployments
Safety, Compliance & Certification (Startup‑Practical)
- Design enclosures to support compliance with:
- UL 9540 / UL 9540A, UL 1973, NFPA 855
- Incorporate features for:
- Fire containment, gas venting, pressure relief
- Service safety, grounding, maintenance clearances
- Support certification testing, test article builds, and design updates driven by results
Cross‑Functional & Startup Collaboration
- Work daily with:
- Electrical, systems, thermal, firmware, and deployment teams
- Translate messy system requirements into clean mechanical designs
- Support customers, installers, and field service with design improvements
- Contribute to mechanical standards, best practices, and documentation as the company scales
Requirements:
Must‑Have
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or similar
- 4–8+ years of mechanical design experience (energy, industrial, power electronics, EV, or heavy equipment preferred)
- Deep experience with:
- Sheet metal and enclosure design
- 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Creo, NX, or equivalent)
- Production drawings, BOMs, and GD&T
- Comfortable working with ambiguity and changing priorities
Strongly Preferred
- Experience designing enclosures for:
- BESS, solar/storage, EV charging, UPS, or industrial power systems
- Familiarity with:
- NEMA / IP ratings and outdoor durability
- Thermal system integration (HVAC, fans, heat exchangers)
- Corrosion protection and coatings (powder coat, e‑coat, stainless, aluminum)
- Exposure to UL or IEC certification processes
